It looks like Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg bit off more than he can chew.
New developments have forced Bragg back on his heels.
And Alvin Bragg just learned some devastating news about one high-profile case.
Alvin Bragg set off another political firestorm after charging 24-year-old Marine veteran Daniel Penny with second-degree manslaughter charges in the death of homeless man Jordan Neely.
Neely was a mentally ill man who police arrested more than 40 times including a recent arrest for breaking a 67-year-old woman’s nose when Neely punched her in the face.
Penny saw Neely threatening passengers on the subway and restrained Neely with the help of two other riders.
Neely later died from his injuries and the police initially released Penny.
This enraged Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other social justice warriors.
Ocasio-Cortez smeared Penny as a murderer and Bragg soon succumbed to the pressure from the woke mob and charged Penny with a crime that carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence.
But now Bragg has a big problem on his hands.
Eyewitnesses back up Penny’s claim that he acted to defend innocent passengers from a violent and menacing individual.
One witness told Fox News that Neely ranted and raved that he was willing to kill people and did not care about going to jail for murder.
“I’m sitting on a train reading my book, and, all of a sudden, I hear someone spewing this rhetoric,” the eyewitness stated. “He said, ‘I don’t care if I have to kill an F, I will. I’ll go to jail, I’ll take a bullet.’”
The witness – a 60-year-old retiree – said the passengers were “scared for our lives.”
And the eyewitness also agreed with the description of Penny as a good Samaritan who acted to try and prevent Neely from harming anyone.
“Nobody wants to kill anybody. Mr. Penny didn’t want to kill that man,” the eyewitness continued. “You should have seen the way Mr. Penny looked. He was distraught. He was very, very, very visibly distressed. And he didn’t go. He didn’t run. He stayed.”
Penny’s attorney, Thomas Kenniff, outlined the self-defense theory he would present at trial which the eyewitness would back up.
“(Penny) wasn’t choking anyone. What he was doing is he was restraining someone,” Kenniff stated. “Restraining someone who was menacing other individuals on the train, and threatening other individuals with threats that could be interpreted as not just threats to do violence, but threats to take life.”
This is the second time in as many months that critics slammed Bragg for bringing politically motivated charges.
Critics contend that Bragg indicted Donald Trump and arrested Penny on flimsy charges because it would be easier for Bragg to survive losing a case at trial than an angry party base in the 2025 Democrat attorney general primary if he did not bring these cases.
