Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden’s working relationship appears to be fraying.
But no one saw thing coming.
And you won’t believe why Nancy Pelosi called out Joe Biden for breaking one major law.
A recent Reuters poll found Joe Biden’s approval rating plummeting to 36 percent.
Biden has yet to reach rock bottom.
And with less than six months before the midterm elections Democrats are panicking.
That’s leading Biden to attempt his latest Hail Mary pass to staunch the bleeding on his approval numbers.
For months socialists like Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demanded Biden bail out the trillions of dollars in student loan debt.
That proposal is hideously unpopular with a Monmouth poll finding just 45 percent of Americans supporting Ocasio-Cortez’s preferred proposal of wiping out up to $50,000 of student loan debt per borrower.
College graduates now overwhelmingly vote Democrat.
But young voters massively disapprove of Joe Biden.
A Quinnipiac poll found only 27 percent of Americans ages 18 to 29 approve of Biden.
These voters will not turn out for Republicans this fall.
But if these voters, which Democrats win by 30 or so points, do not show up in significant numbers Republicans will swamp Democrats in November and put Senate races even in blue states like Colorado and Washington in play.
So Joe Biden is going to try and buy their votes by eliminating $10,000 for certain student loan borrowers by executive order.
The Washington Post reports:
White House officials are currently planning to cancel $10,000 in student debt per borrower, after months of internal deliberations over how to structure loan forgiveness for tens of millions of Americans, three people with knowledge of the matter said.
President Biden had hoped to make the announcement as soon as this weekend at the University of Delaware commencement, the people said, but that timing has changed after the massacre Tuesday in Texas.
The White House’s latest plans called for limiting debt forgiveness to Americans who earned less than $150,000 in the previous year, or less than $300,000 for married couples filing jointly, two of the people said. It was unclear whether the administration will simultaneously require interest and payments to resume at the end of August, when the current pause is scheduled to lapse.
But even this plan is doomed to fail as none other than Nancy Pelosi admits.
Last year Pelosi told reporters that the president lacked the constitutional authority to erase student loan debt via executive order.
“The president can’t do it, so that’s not even a discussion,” Pelosi told reporters when the administration first floated this proposal back in 2021. “Not everyone realizes that, but the president can only postpone, delay—but not forgive.”
This isn’t the first time Biden knowingly chose to break the law in the hopes of rallying his liberal base.
Last fall Biden imposed illegal eviction moratoriums and federal vaccine mandates after Biden’s poll numbers dropped following Biden reimposing mask mandates and the debacle in Afghanistan.
Both of those gambits failed on every front.
Not only did the Supreme Court strike down Biden’s unconstitutional executive orders but the public was not impressed, and Biden’s poll numbers continued in their free fall.
Given that only 35 percent of Americans have a college degree Biden is now asking nearly two-thirds of Americans to bail out Joe Biden’s voters.
And that is not likely to sit well.
