A Secret Meeting Put Kamala Harris On Notice That Bad News Is On the Way

Kamala Harris is not the political superstar that Democrats thought.

Her failures as Joe Biden’s border czar make Democrats nervous about 2024.

And a secret meeting put Kamala Harris on notice that bad news is on the way.

As Black Eye Politics reports:

Kamala Harris proved during her doomed presidential campaign that she was not a charismatic politician that could communicate a message that resonated with voters.

Democrats hoped the office of the vice president conveyed upon Harris a stature that Americans connected to ahead of Harris running for president in 2024.

But nearly seven months in and Democrats already deployed “break glass in case of emergency” measures and plotted a rescue mission.

That’s because Joe Biden naming Harris to serve as his administration’s border czar unleashed a flood of negative press stories.

The border crisis continues to spiral out of control as July saw over 200,000 illegal aliens pouring over the border.

Harris took trips to Central America and Texas to send the message the administration took the crisis seriously, but Harris made a mess of both trips.

When Harris visited Central America, she refused to answer a question form NBC’s Lester Holt about when she planned to visit the border.

Harris’ trip to El Paso was meant to put that controversy to rest, but that failed because Harris never actually visited the border and only saw carefully curated sights at a detention facility the administration made sure would not include any embarrassing images.

Poll numbers show Harris underwater and Democrats are beginning to panic that Donald Trump is likely to defeat her in 2024 if Trump stages a comeback and Joe Biden decides not to seek a second term.

According to a report in Axios, several of the most high-profile women in Democrat Party politics met at the home of former Clinton aide Kiki McLean to strategize on how to save Harris’ political career.

Axios reported the attendees were “Harris confidant Minyon Moore; two former DNC officials, Donna Brazile and Leah Daughtry; Biden adviser and leader of his outside group, Stephanie Cutter; former Hillary Clinton spokeswomen and Democratic strategists Adrienne Elrod and Karen Finney; and former Obama White House communications director Jennifer Palmieri.”

The meeting did not end up amounting to much.

“It was less about how do you sort out the infrastructure [of Harris’ operation], and it was more how can this group contribute to make sure that not only is her team making the most of this moment — as the first woman of color in the White House — but how can we help from the outside?” Axios reported someone familiar with the dinner saying.

At the end of the day, the only thing the best minds in the Democrat Party could come up with is resurrecting the failed strategy of Harris’ presidential campaign which leaned on Harris’ background as an attorney general of California claiming she could prosecute the case against Donald Trump.

That message bellyflopped with the public as Harris dropped out of the race months before even a single vote was cast and her poll numbers near zero.

The other strategy the Democrats’ best and brightest campaign came up with was to spend the next three years whining that every negative story about Harris was sexist in the hopes that their ideological fellow travelers in the media could be shamed into showering Harris with positive press despite her obvious incompetence.

Axios also reported:

Another source familiar with the dinner said attendees saw sexist overtones to the Harris coverage, and discussed how they could “make sure the press knows this.”

“Many of us lived through the Clinton campaign, and want to help curb some of the gendered dynamics in press coverage that impacted HRC,” this source said. “It was like: ‘We’ve seen this before.’ It’s subtle. But when things aren’t going well for a male politician, we ask very different questions, and they’re not held to account the way a woman leader is.”
