Liz Cheney is one of the ring leaders of the Never Trump movement.

Cheney will do anything to keep Donald Trump out of the White House.

And Liz Cheney considering running for president to stop Donald Trump.

As Conservative Revival reports:

After January 6 Liz Cheney launched a kamikaze mission against Donald Trump and his supporters.

Cheney voted to impeach Donald Trump based on the hoax that Trump incited a riot on January.

Then, Cheney accepted Nancy Pelosi’s appointment to the January 6 Committee and served as the Republican face of a political operation whose only goal was to stop Trump from running in 2024.

Cheney’s wholehearted embrace of her role as Nancy Pelosi’s favorite Republican led to Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman routing Cheney by 37 points in the Wyoming Congressional primary.

But as soon as Cheney lost her primary, she began talking herself up as a 2024 presidential contender.

In her concession speech, Cheney compared herself to Abraham Lincoln – the first Republican President – by saying Lincoln lost multiple Congressional elections before winning the White House.

Cheney was not the only one making the Lincoln comparisons.

On PBS’ Firing Line host, Margaret Hoover asked liberal historian Jon Meacham about a recent piece he published about Lincoln.

“You recently published, ‘And There Was Light’, on the life of Abraham Lincoln. You say that Lincoln was ‘a man who put moral commitment at the heart of what he was doing and a duty to constitutional order itself ahead of his own power,” Hoover stated.

“Are there modern day leaders that you think reflect similar qualities of character?” Hoover asked Meacham.

Meacham quickly named Cheney.

“Yes, I think of Liz Cheney right off the top of the question. I think of people who have actually sacrificed their own individual power in the cause of preserving a larger order that for all of its imperfections has proved durable,” Meacham answered.

Meacham then repeated the lie that Trump supporters plan to overthrow American democracy.

“And has also, in our own time, proven incredibly fragile. Which we all sort of notionally thought about, you know, democracy is fragile is the kind of thing we would say. But now we know it really is,” Meacham continued.

Hoover noted that Republicans fired Cheney and Meacham and then claimed Liz Cheney losing an election was evidence that democracy was at risk.

“Exactly, and that’s courage. And the one great test about the durability and the ultimate wisdom of the American people will be what happens to her next,” Meacham responded.

The bad news for Liz Cheney is that leftwing academics – MSNBC fired Meacham after Mecham admitted he was secretly helping Joe Biden write speeches – are not Republican primary voters.

And the rank and file Republicans are not buying the Lincoln comparison.

A University of New Hampshire poll found just four percent of primary voters backing Cheney in 2024.
