Clarence Thomas Lowered the Boom On Joe Biden With A Delicious Piece of Revenge

Joe Biden tried to ruin Clarence Thomas’ Supreme Court nomination back in 1991.

Now the shoe is on the other foot.

Clarence Thomas lowered the boom on Joe Biden with a delicious piece of revenge.

As Great American Daily reports:

When George H.W. Bush nominated Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court, Joe Biden was the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Biden provided Anita Hill a platform to smear Thomas as a sexual predator by claiming—without providing any evidence—that Thomas sexually harassed her over a decade prior.

Thomas survived the hearing with a fiery defense, but Thomas seethed for decades over his treatment.

Now in 2022 Thomas may get his chance for revenge by delivering conservative victories on issues near and dear to Joe Biden’s heart—gun control and abortion.

After years of coming out on the losing end of abortion cases thanks to Justices Anthony Kennedy and John Roberts, Thomas and the other conservatives believe they are on the verge of striking the biggest blow against Roe v. Wade by agreeing to take up Mississippi’s appeal of a lower court ruling striking down the state’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks.

In the past two years, Thomas authored opinions expressing his disgust with the Court not overturning Roe v. Wade.

In 2020, Thomas wrote that “Roe is grievously wrong for many reasons, but the most fundamental is that its core holding—that the Constitution protects a woman’s right to abort her unborn child—finds no support in the text of the Fourteenth Amendment.”

Thomas also wrote a 2019 opinion where the Supreme Court unanimously rejected Indiana’s appeal of a lower court ruling overturning a pro-life law that abortion was a “tool of eugenics.”

In his opinion, Justice Thomas ran through the history of birth control to be used as a form of population control.

Thomas also dove into Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger’s well known racist and pro-eugenicist positions which culminated with placing Planned Parenthood clinics in predominantly black neighborhoods.

Justice Thomas added that “the use of abortion to achieve eugenic goals is not merely hypothetical. The foundations for legalizing abortion in America were laid during the early 20th-century birth control movement. That movement developed alongside the American eugenics movement. And significantly, Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger recognized the eugenic potential of her cause. She emphasized and embraced the notion that birth control ‘opens the way to the eugenist.’”

In the 2020 campaign, Joe Biden boasted that he was the last Democrat to beat the gun lobby when he helped rammed the 1994 “assault weapons” ban through Congress.

Next term the Court is taking up a challenge to a New York law restricting individuals from concealed carrying a firearm in public.

This is the first major Second Amendment case the Court took up since the 2008 Heller decision which affirmed that owning a firearm is an individual right.

Since then, Thomas prodded the other justices to take up gun cases noting how the Court seemed to look down on the Second Amendment.

“I find it extremely improbable that the Framers understood the Second Amendment to protect little more than carrying a gun from the bedroom to the kitchen,” Thomas wrote in a 2017 dissent in a case where the Court declined to take up a Second Amendment matter.

Thomas added that he found it to be a “distressing trend: the treatment of the Second Amendment as a disfavored right.”

Justice Thomas drove his point home by listing off the number of other cases the Court considered with regards to various other amendments in the Bill of Rights.

“Since that time, we have heard argument in, for example, roughly 35 cases where the question presented turned on the meaning of the First Amendment and 25 cases that turned on the meaning of the Fourth Amendment,” Justice Thomas concluded.

With Amy Coney Barrett giving conservatives five votes and Chief Justice Roberts drifting to the left, Justice Thomas is the senior-most justice likely to be in the majority in these cases.

As such, Thomas gets to choose who writes what opinion for the majority.

And that could provide Justice Thomas the opportunity to write the most sweeping pro-life and pro-Second Amendment opinions in generations.
