Adam Schiff could not believe it.
The House Intelligence Committee Chairman thought he had an ace up his sleeve to impeach Donald Trump for a second time.
But Adam Schiff’s head was spinning after the one person he never suspected just betrayed him.
As Conservative Revival reports:
If the Democrats had been smart, they would never have started impeachment in the first place.
They should have looked hard at the evidence before they started impeachment.
And when the evidence showed that Donald Trump did not use foreign aid to bribe the Ukrainian president to investigate Joe Biden, they should have dropped the subject.
But instead, they jumped the gun and decided that since their base was already rabidly anti-Trump, that they could get away with impeaching him.
Their problem is, all the voters that unquestioningly trust the Democrats already thought that Trump was a criminal.
Among moderates, support of impeachment steadily declined as Adam Schiff was finally forced to stop holding his meetings in secret.
Adam Schiff thought that he might have finally caught the break he needed when the New York Times leaked a juicy excerpt from John Bolton’s upcoming book.
In the leaked manuscript, John Bolton claimed that Trump told him that military aid to Ukraine would be held up until they announced that they were investigating Joe Biden.
Adam Schiff tried to use John Bolton’s excerpt as justification to open the Senate trial up to additional witness, extending the trial indefinitely. This proved unsuccessful.
However, now that the Democrats all put their orders in on his book and made it #5 on Amazon’s nonfiction list, John Bolton is slowly walking back his statements against Trump.
According to the Washington Examiner:
“People can argue about what I should have said and what I should have done,” Bolton said at an event with Susan Rice, another former national security adviser, at Vanderbilt University on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. “I would bet you a dollar right here and now, my testimony would have made no difference to the ultimate outcome.”
In addition, he argued that the House “committed impeachment malpractice” and that “the process drove Republicans who might have voted for impeachment away because it was so partisan.”
The Democrats knew from the beginning that they wouldn’t be able to remove Trump from office unless they made it a bipartisan effort, yet Adam Schiff went out of his way to alienate every Republican through his underhanded behavior.
This makes it clear that the Democrats were focused more on hurting Trump’s chances of reelection than they were of actually removing him.
Even Adam Schiff knew from the beginning that John Bolton’s testimony didn’t make the case against Trump strong enough to justify impeachment, otherwise the Democrats would have waited for the courts to decide if Bolton needed to testify or not.
Adam Schiff always knew that the Senate was going to acquit Trump, and he was always going to find some excuse to blame the acquittal on the Republicans.
There was no way that impeachment was going to end differently because the accusations against Trump were completely inadequate.
